Cairns Pet Clipping & Grooming Services

Clipping & Grooming Cairns Pets since 1966

Cairns Vet Clinic offers Cairns Pet Grooming including clipping, bathing, grooming, nail trimming services, ear plucking and cleaning and anal glands emptying services for all household pets including dogs, cats, birds and pocket pets.

Cairns Pet Grooming options:

In our tropical climate, many people choose to have their pet clipped short, especially longer coated breeds.  We can custom clip your pet, such as leaving head and tail long and short elsewhere.  We can also very the length of the clip, and trim other areas to your preferred length.  Note that if you neglect clipping your pet until it has a matted, knotty or dirty coat, it may require a very short clip to get under the knots.

Cat Dog Grooming

Cairns Vet Cat Grooming & Clipping services

Cairns Vet Clinic does a lot of Cat clipping, especially of long coated cats like persians.  Because most cats hate being clipped, we sedate all cats for clipping to reduce stress, the time needed to clip your cat and the risk of injury to cat or cat groomer.

Cairns Vet Dog Grooming & Clipping

We groom large numbers of dogs, mostly long coated dogs, dogs with skin disease, or dogs at risk of tick paralysis.

How often should I have by cat or dog clipped or groomed?

Different pets need grooming done at different frequencies.  Most dogs and cats with very long coats should be brushed daily.  Many pet owners prefer instead to have their pet's coat clipped short: eg 1cm long 2-6 times per year to reduce the daily maintainance

Ensure your pet is up to date with essential health care

Cairns Vet Clinic (and other Cairns pet groomers and shelters) require your pet up to date with vaccination to protect your pet.  If your pet is overdue we can vaccinate them today.

Cairns Vet Pet Grooming

Only a vet can sedate your pet for grooming

We provide clipping under sedation, which is often essential for cats and nervous dogs.  Dog groomers cannot legally sedate animals, so if your pet is stressed by grooming procedures sedation is often the best option.  Contact us for more details.

Cairns Pet Clipping: We customise the clip to your needs

We can custom clip your pet to your preferred length.  An experienced vet nurse/groomer will go through the clipping plan with you, showing you the length of coat options for your pet's body, limbs, head and tail.

Other Pet grooming services offered by Cairns Vet Clinic are Nail clip , Ear pluck and clean, Express anal glands and Bathing (medicated or flea/tick)
