We provide clipping under sedation, which is often essential for cats and nervous dogs. Dog groomers cannot legally sedate animals, so if your pet is stressed by grooming procedures sedation is often the best option. Contact us for more details.
Dog and cat clipping and grooming admission procedure
At the time of admission, one of our nurses will discuss with you exactly how you want your pet clipped. We talk to you about the clipping styles available and the length of clip, and any optional procedures you want done, such as nail clipping, ear cleaning, anal gland expressing etc.
We also review your pet's health care and identify any outstanding preventative health care you need to attend to.
Please note:
Dogs and cats for grooming must be vaccinated and free of fleas, ticks and other parasites
In the interests of clinic hygeine and your pet's health, if we find fleas on your pet when they are with us for grooming we will treat them with a rapid acting insecticide such as Capstar.
If you dog or cat is overdue for vaccination we can vaccinate them on the day.
*Note that all Cairns groomers require up to date vaccination to prevent the spread of serious infections.
We sedate most dogs and all cats for grooming to minimise injury, distress and clipping time.
Note that we may not be able to clip your pet without sedation. If you do not want your pet sedated or you want a fashion/fancy clip you may be better to take your pet to a grooming salon.
At the time of clipping we will record your desired clip to make sure we do it how you want, and to make it easy to get it the same next time.
